“Cat Brantley was wonderful to work with from beginning to end! She was very easy to communicated with and prepared before the residency, with communication, and throughout the time she served the students at my school.  Our 3rd and 4th grade students created mandala water color paintings and had an amazing experience!  They are still asking if they get to do more! I highly recommend Cat for visual art residencies! She is a dream to work with!

“Cat Brantley has been our ECM instructor for two years in a row, and she has been such a pleasure to work with! She has a calming, and welcoming nature, which makes everyone feel very comfortable. Students were highly engaged throughout our experience, as she teaches in a very hands-on format. She was highly prepared and professional throughout our experience. There was a lot of supplies involved in our art project, and she always made sure everything was organized and easily accessible for students. With her teaching practices, students were able to produce high quality artwork and writing. She brings out the best in everyone that she works with!”

“We had the privilege of learning alongside Cat Brantley in April during her residency in our First Grade classroom. From the moment Cat entered Room 162, she commanded the attention of 20 six year olds! She is so inviting, warm, and confident. Cat was incredibly organized, and came prepared each day with a plan. She is an effective educator who engaged with the children naturally- it was such a positive experience to watch her! Cat challenged the students to be creative, problem solve, and critically think about their product. She is a talented artist and educator- I cannot wait to share a creative space with her again!”

“Cat Brantley is both a master artist and teacher. She is able to share her gift for the aesthetic with young minds by crafting and implementing expert lessons. Cat has a calm, gentle demeanor and is able to connect and build relationships with kids in a way that encourages them to take risks as artists. When planning lessons, Cat thinks through the implementation of each step of a project and breaks them into manageable chunks for students, as well as the ways she can scaffold students towards success. Her art lessons are well prepared, have great pacing, and integrate South Carolina literacy standards as well. What's more impressive is Cat's ability to manage a classroom of students. I have worked with many resident artists over the years as a classroom teacher, and Cat has had the most impressive classroom management skills by far. The end result, students are highly engaged, improve their artistic ability, deepen their literacy skills, and produce amazing projects. My students always love working with Cat and are sad when our week with her is over.”
